Wedding Plans

Dear Jalen,

It wasn’t long after your Dad proposed that we began planning the wedding. Because our home is such a special place to us, we initially considered having the ceremony at home. I began planting wildflowers along our long driveway and our neighbors were gracious enough to lend us use of their adjacent field for parking. It turns out there’s a lot of logistics and expense to work through to have a wedding at home. We decided against it.

We then considered flying away someplace to get married on a beach. We loved the idea but ultimately decided to save the beach for our honeymoon.

So where do you go if you want to have a beautiful wedding ceremony at a reasonable cost and have a lot of fun celebrating when it’s over? Viva Las Vegas!

We booked our rooms at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.

I’ll admit, when I think of a Las Vegas wedding I don’t exactly think of anything I wanted our wedding to be. It was your Dad’s suggestion. He’s happy with anything. But, with a little planning and a lot of research I found you can have nearly any wedding you could want in Las Vegas including the type of wedding I’d love to have. An outdoor garden ceremony by the water was booked at the Grand Garden at Lake Las Vegas for October 3rd, 2009.

Our wedding ceremony location was Grand Garden at Lake Las Vegas.

We quickly put the word out to friends and family. I began planning all the details. The dress. The ceremony music. The flowers. This is where I’d like to be able to tell you everything went off without a hitch. It didn’t. There was a hitch. Actually, there were many hitches. But these hitches all came with one very important reminder…
