My hope for you is that you have a life filled with celebrations. Life needs more celebrations. When you get the chance to celebrate something, grab it. But better yet, I hope that you don’t wait for life to give you a reason to celebrate. My hope is that you’ll create your own reasons to celebrate instead.
After our wedding, your dad and I celebrated by taking a honeymoon trip to Ochos Rios, Jamaica. Aside from the day you were born, it was my favorite celebration.
After celebrating our wedding with friends after the ceremony, we hopped a plane at sunrise to Ochos Rios, Jamaica.
“Love is knowing that you have found happiness, a thought times two everyday of your life. A honeymoon that never ends.” – Jasmina Siderovski
We spent the week in oceanfront suite 61 at Royal Plantation resort.
Royal Plantation is the type of resort where everywhere you turn you only see beauty.
The view, the flowers, everything was beautiful. Even our food was beautiful!
When you’re surrounded by so much beauty, it would seem impossible to not have a great time. Though, the truth is, I was just happy to be married to your father. It didn’t matter where we were, we were just happy to be husband and wife.
We made the most of every day of our honeymoon. We played chess on the beach.
We climbed the Dunn’s river waterfall.
Your dad plunged into one of the pools of water on the way up.
We ordered champagne from our beach chair simply by raising a flag because at Royal Plantation, they have butlers that serve you on the beach.
We had drinks and danced on a catamaran cruise. If I had a premium membership I’d insert a video clip of the party but maybe it’s for the best anyway. My dance moves are fierce when I join a conga line.
When the day was over and we headed back to our beautiful suite…
…we ordered pillows off the menu. Yes, because this place has a MENU for PILLOWS.
Of all the wonderful memories we made, my favorite was horseback riding on the beach…
…and through the ocean
We’re not sure why, but the guides paired me up with “Meticulous” – one of the largest horses and your dad was matched up with one of the smaller horses.
He looked so funny! It was even funnier when his horse kept stopping to eat leaves instead of keeping up with the group.
Nonetheless, it all worked out in the end.
Jalen, we loved Jamaica so much we decided to go back a couple years later. I bet you didn’t know you’ve been to Jamaica too. On our next Jamaica trip, I carried you with us – in my tummy.
